re-orientate part to plane

re-orientate part to plane

re-orientate part to plane

(OP)
I have made a part in X-Z plane, I need to re-orientate the part into XY-plane. How can I do that?

RE: re-orientate part to plane

Hi,

there is no direct function available to do that for a whole
part. When the part is a simple one just start over.

You may, however, experiment with the 'Modify' commands
'rotate' and 'move' by specifying 'Body' instead of face.
I can give no general guideline on 'how to' because it
depends on the overall shape of the part which might require
some auxillary sketches to get the desired result.

But why would you have to do that?

That's because I shall transfer this part into a CAM program and generate cnc toolpaths. The CAM program are missings som addons such as moving part origin etc. I got this part from one of my customers and they are designers, they don't have the knowledge of machining. So quite often I have to make the part file from scratch because the orientation issue.

RE: re-orientate part to plane

Hi,

hmm, then you could try this as well:

- open a new .par and define a coordinate system using either
  offset or rotation or both

- insert the part into this by using the coordinate sytem just
  defined
