perspective view and video card

perspective view and video card

I've only used solidworks 2006 and 2007 but in both when i have perspective view turned off my model looks retarded.  sectioned out portions here and there, overlapping and underlapping and all sorts of wacky stuff going on.  But if i turn on perspective view everything is perfect.  Why is that?  i know my graphics card sucks but does non-perspective viewing require a lot more processing or something?  It's an Intel integrated graphics chip for laptop.  i also only have 512mb memory but i just ordered 2gb and hope that things with work better.

RE: perspective view and video card

Integrated video cards/chips usually suck when used for SW.

I don't know why the perspective mode should work better than non-perspective.

For your sake I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt the extra RAM will cure the graphics problem.

cheers

RE: perspective view and video card

More RAM might help with an integrated video card as it probably shares system memory.  I wouldn't bet the farm, however.

well, i got the the memory delivered today. i'll let you know.
i'm doubtful too but at least things might run faster.  with SW running my mem usage goes above 600,000.

ok so heres the example

first image is the normal view
second image is the perspective view
pretty annoying

anyway, the extra memory is great.  everything runs faster and smoother. no more lag or choppiness or refreshing issues.

also, you can see SW is not good with dual processors.

i wonder if there are third party openGL software that would help.
