During the cambric period, some 600 million years ago, they were even shorter, a year had 425 days. It is evident our Earth's rotation is slowing down.

There were no humans around at that time, as such, and I'm not even sure there were dinosaurs. I suspect that without wrist watches, or wrists even, early fish were bad time keepers.

As we are stardust 4.5 billion years old, one year is just a blink, which we hope it will be happy, without interferences in our orbit around the sun.
