Extrude to surface with draft issue.

Hi all.

I'm trying to create 4 small bosses that terminate on a lofted solid. I created the first two on the bottom side with no problems but when I try to create the same ones on the top  side SW tells me that the surface cannot be used to terminate the profile.

The bosses have a 10 degree external draft and if I lower this value to below 3 it will work. Or if I move the bosses closer to the center as I have in this image then it will work.

Why does it work on one side and not the other?

RE: Extrude to surface with draft issue.

It's hard to say why it doesn't work. Could be a glitch, or a tiny geometry misalignment, or a rounding up instead of down in the algorithm, or who knows what???

Try creating the boss features [u]before[/b] creating the fillet around the body.

Does a Mirror of the lower features work?

cheers

No it doesn't like mirroring because of the surface termination.

I might just revolve the bosses then cut out the inside.

Damn glitches.

RE: Extrude to surface with draft issue.

Try without the fillets first.

cheers

You could also try extruding to a surface offset into the material thickness.

cheers
