Pond's bottom measurement

Pond's bottom measurement

Pond's bottom measurement

(OP)
Does anybody knows a reliable instrument (no matter the price) to measure the depth of the bottom of a pond ? Supposed to be on a boat.

RE: Pond's bottom measurement

A stick.

Exactly. I need a replacement for the scaled stick, so a large number of points can be measured and saved on a hardware device.

A (D)GPS and echosounder linked to a PC. This is standard hydrographic survey equipment.

Otherwise put a prism reflector on top of a fixed length stick and take readings with a total station from the shore. This depends on the depth and size of pond of course.

RE: Pond's bottom measurement

i have noticed that fishermen have some neat gadgets on thier boats. not thinking of beer coolers at this moment, but the newer fishfinders seem to be reasonably accurate.
