How to Remove a Part from a 3D Solid Drawing?

How to Remove a Part from a 3D Solid Drawing?

How to Remove a Part from a 3D Solid Drawing?

(OP)
Hi,

This looks like a very easy question but I am really new at using SolidWorks and any help will be appriciated. Assume that we have a 3D solid drawing. How can we remove a part of it through a surface? I mean, if I want to remove from z=2 surface, what should I do?

Regards,

Can

RE: How to Remove a Part from a 3D Solid Drawing?

I'm sorry ... I'm not sure I understand what you mean by ... "remove a part of it through a surface?" or "I want to remove from z=2 surface".

Do you mean you want to cut a feature into a face of a part model?

cheers

I mean, consider a sphere with r=3. I wanna cut the region of the sphere out where z=2 and z>2. Hope i could clear it.

RE: How to Remove a Part from a 3D Solid Drawing?

There are several methods to do that;

1) Offset a plane 2 units from the Front plane.
Use the Cut With Plane tool to cut-off the unwanted portion.

2) Offset a plane 2 units from the Front plane.
Use the Intersection Curve tool to create a sketch on the               Offset Plane.
Cut-Extrude that profile away from the Offset Plane.

3) Create a sketch on the Top Plane.
Create a rectangle which has one line positioned where you    need the sphere to be cut and the other lines outside of the sphere.
Cut-Extrude that profile Through All in both directions.

cheers
