My company has just implemented the Intools, or I guess what is now called SmartPlant, program.  I haven't really looked much into it due to other priorities, but a client we are starting a new job for soon wants our company to use this program.  I work for an oil/gas consulting firm that mostly does (97%) of offshore jobs.

So, my question is, what is the best plan of tackling this program?  Are there any really good books out there that help in the learning process or is it mostly the programs manual that is the teaching tool?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  And as I said before, I don't know much at all about this program, so maybe there is much more to this than I think there is; and I'm sure there is.  Thanks!!

Nothing?  Anyone!!!

RE: Intools/SmartPlant

You may want to post the INtools question in the forums for Control Systems or Measurement and Control Instrumentation.  I think that SmartPlant is the viewer for the 3D model.  If so, you may want to post SmartPlant questions in Piping.

Is this an offshore company with offices in NO, LA and north Houston that was recently acquired by a larger firm?

Thanks JLSeagull.  I will post this in the forums you mentioned.  As for the company I work for, it is an oil & gas consulting firm.  We do about 98% offshore work with some, very little, plant jobs.  The company started in NO about 20-25 years ago and eventually got an office in houston about 15 years ago.  We are located in West Houston.  I new to the instrumentation side and am pressed to learn InTools due to upcoming jobs that require it.  Thanks again for the reply.
