broken-out section view in a detail view?
broken-out section view in a detail view?
(OP)
Has anyone succeeded in making a broken-out section view within a detail view using sw2006sp5? I can make a broken-out section view in the view the detail view references, and it then appears in the detail view, but I want the broken-out section view to be in the detail view only. Thanks.

RE: broken-out section view in a detail view?
So you want to create a broken-out section view from a detail view which has been made from a normal view ... right?
Detail and Broken-out views can be problematic at the best of times ... combining them is asking for trouble.
Make a copy of the parent view.
Create the broken-out section.
Crop the view to suit.
Enlarge the scale to suit.

cmm...I’m not sure of or fully understand the question…you may want to re-word it for clarification but I think you’re trying to create a ‘broken out section’ view from a ‘detail view’…as in Detail ‘A’ or possibly Section ‘B-B’. If so then SolidWorks doesn’t let you do this. I get this message when I try to do a ‘broken out section’ from a detail view in SW2007…”Broken out section view may not be created on a detail, section, or alternate position” and then the ‘broken out’ section icon dims and can’t be selected. This might be obvious but if I can’t perform the action in SW2007, it’s possible it can’t be done in SW2006 either. Maybe someone else knows differently…
