formula transposition

formula transposition

(OP)
Hi I am trying to transpose this temperature rise formula to find current. Current = J. I have tried but am not 100% confident so please could someone check if I am right. Cheers Terry.

ΔT=J²L²
     2ykA²

To make J the subject I have got

Sqroot (ΔT)2ykA²=J
                 L²

It's been a long time since I have transposed a formula of this complexity, any advice well recieved.

Many thanks.

RE: formula transposition

First you multiplied both sides by 2ykA^2;
Then you divided both sides by L^2;
Then you took the square root of both sides.

Looks right to me.

RE: formula transposition

This looks correct to me too. smile

RE: formula transposition

Looks essentially correct.  I would only add that, when you take the square root of both sides, there is both a positive and a negative solution. I suppose this means that it doesn't matter which direction the current is flowing in terms of causing a specified temperature rise.
