FIRE PUMP MAIN SWITCH BOARD

FIRE PUMP MAIN SWITCH BOARD

FIRE PUMP MAIN SWITCH BOARD

(OP)
I have to connect a 150hp fire pump from the utillity transformer.(150ft).
The MSB,(and feeder) should be dimensioned at LRA(LOCKED ROTOR AMPERAGE)or at 1.25 FLA?
I Now that i need only a disconnect and a overcurrent device in this circuit.(NEC)
Can i use only a unfussed disconnect in Fire Pump room, and a CB at the MSB(for the overcurrent(shortcircuit) purposses)?

RE: FIRE PUMP MAIN SWITCH BOARD

All of this is heavily dependent on local codes.  If you are in the United States, please refer to NEC Article 695 on Fire Pumps.  The answers to all of your questions are there and if you are designing service to fire pumps, you really need to know what NEC requirements are, so you should have your own copy of the NEC.

If you have a question regarding an intepretation of a specific code requirement, give us a specific question and code reference and you'll likely get a quick answer.
