Any information for grades suitable for use in oil field drilling applications would be appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Galling Resistant Steels

Depending on applications, would you consider hardfacing?
Materials are generally selected depending on work conditions and on the type of abrasion or wear caused by the other materials in contact.

RE: Galling Resistant Steels

The basic rules apply.
Cold worked materials will have improved gall resistance.
Always try to mate dissimilar metals.
Both metals must be fully corrosion resistant in the environment.

The high Mn austenitic grades and duplex grades tend to be better at galling resistance.  You need to select a specific alloy based on corrosion resistance.
