Hi,

I'm here in Canada.
Thanks for all replies

I have done the calculations but don't have them handy. If it's worth doing anywhere I'm sure Canada would be a place where it's worthwhile!

Thermal insulation of storage tanks is based in the stored product characteristics and typical weather conditions of storage area. There are tanks Just Shell insulated and tanks Shell and Roof both insulated.

RE: Tank Insulation: Shell vs. Shell+Roof
1. Uninsulated hot tanks may have much more under-roof corrosion due to condensation of hot vapors/moisture.
2. If you are heating the tank to maintain the liquid temperature, it will be better to insulate the roof to reduce the heating steam (A cost/benefit analysis may show you the truth).
3.If the shell insulation is only for personal protection, you dont need to insulate the tank.
4.Emergency venting sizing will be affected by the decision to do away with roof insulation.
Finally tell us what is the service of the tank to a get a better answer!
