I'm trying to estimate an initial bolt preload for a body flange.  Can I use the value for Wm2 in Appendix 2 to back calculate the necessary bolt torque to give the required preload at ambient conditions?

What general approach do you guys follow when estimating the required bolt preload for a new body flange?

RE: VIII div 1 Appendix 2 required bolt load

Before you go down this road, please read Appendix S in its entirety and see if it answers your question.  Also, it would be a good idea to read ASME PCC-1 too.
