Limit mates and configurations

Limit mates and configurations

Limit mates and configurations

(OP)
I have an assembly with several Limit mates for positions of moving components. I can drag these components within it's limits but I would like to use configurations. Is there a way to control chages to a limit mate with multiple configurations, rather than using distance mates and having to suppress & unsuppress them with configurations.

RE: Limit mates and configurations

Configurations are controlled using Dimensions and other means. But a width mate is a matter of picking certain faces. That is going to be the same for each config. so there is no way to control a width mate in different configs.

The only way I can think of is to Suppress one Width mate and make a new one for your new config and do that for each config.

RE: Limit mates and configurations

I don't think there is.  Not with 2006 anyway.  The whole point of a limit mate is to allow any motion within that window.  I think your best bet would be to add one distance mate per limit mate.  Use a design table to supress/unsupress the mates and change the value of the distance mate for each configuration you have.

RE: Limit mates and configurations

Crap... I was thinking Width mate... sorry Limit mate was the Question Handleman is right you can't control it per a config. I just tested this in SW07 - It seems like you can, but the changes for that mate are in the feature while editing a mate. Configs you can control by editing a Dimension. You can't edit a dimension of a limit mate and it work, because when you do that it effects both configs because the Dimension is part of the feature itself.
