Does anyone know of a way to export points to an XYZ text file in NX4?

RE: Export points to XYZ text file

Need Clarification:
Do you want to export points, or the xyz coordinate info for the points?
If the latter, just go to the upper left hand corner of the Information window and click "File > Save As..."

Thanks - I didn't even know that button was there.  I will have to write an app though that cleans up the text file since it contains a lot of other information I don't care about.  I just want the X,Y,Z values.  BTW - the array contains 3500 points.

Thanks again !

RE: Export points to XYZ text file

What do you plan on doing with the points? If you are using it downstream, I would suggest using PMI, but since this array is so large in your case, then a more automated way could be to us KF to own the points and have an application to extract it into what ever your using downstream.

I wrote an app in VB.Net to use the x,y,z locations of the points in the array to create a custom drilling cycle for a 3 axis vmc.

Thanks!

I have an old GRIP program that will do what you want.  Send me an e-mail and I will forward it to you.
