Cosmetic Thread in Part but not Assembly??

Cosmetic Thread in Part but not Assembly??

Cosmetic Thread in Part but not Assembly??

(OP)
Hi all.

I have cosmetic threads in some parts that are not displayed in assembly mode.

I created a part "in context" in the assembly with cosmetic threads and the threads are shown in this part?

What's the deal?

RE: Cosmetic Thread in Part but not Assembly??

I just realized that making a cut operation to create a custom section causes the cosmetic thread to not be displayed anymore.

Is there a way around this? Can I create a custom section without losing these threads?

Thanks

RE: Cosmetic Thread in Part but not Assembly??

Make sure the View and Annotations settings are set correctly.

Can you post images (see FAQ559-1100) before and after the custom section?

cheers

RE: Cosmetic Thread in Part but not Assembly??

What version of SW are you using? SW supposedly fixed the cosmetic threads in an assy problem in SW2007

I am using 2005.

By custom section I merely mean that some parts are cut down the center plane and some parts are not cut. Otherwise I would simply use the section command which would leave the threads intact

RE: Cosmetic Thread in Part but not Assembly??

Search for "cosmetic" here. Been discussed before.

In the the Assembly Drawing in the Insert Model Items turn everything off but, for the Cosmetic Threads.  Set the Layer to "None" and select the green check mark.   Cosmetic Threads are not shown in Assemblies but in the Drawings you get to appear.  Hope this helps.  Cheers.

RE: Cosmetic Thread in Part but not Assembly??

Insert\Model items\Cosmetic thread is how you get Cosmetic threads to show up in your assemblies.
