ANSI B16.5 Corrosion Allowance

ANSI B16.5 Corrosion Allowance

ANSI B16.5 Corrosion Allowance

(OP)
Dear all,

I was sure that pressure ratings stablished in ANSI B16.5 implicitily included a 0.25in corrosion allowance and that if this values was exceded, the ratings were no longer valid.
Just to verify that, I went thorugh this ANSI and found notihing about this corrosion matter (may be I was not able to spot the proper statement!!).
So, I´ll be glad if some colleague can provide some guidance in this subject.
Thanks in advance

RE: ANSI B16.5 Corrosion Allowance

I assume you mean internal corrosion due to the fluid contents.

I would think the corrosion allowance is taken care of by specifying the flanges to be the same bore (inside diameter) as your pipe. That's what I do.

You certainly don't want to use Std bore flanges with XXS pipe.

RE: ANSI B16.5 Corrosion Allowance

I agree Nozzle Twister. For blind flanges corrosion allowance should be added to the B 16.5 specified thk. In my opinion.
