SolidWorks & Pro/E Translating Software?

SolidWorks & Pro/E Translating Software?

(OP)
This is my first post/Thread - so don't be gentle, if I'm asking a silly question then shoot me down with both barrels.

I’m looking for some type of interpreting or translating software that works with Pro/E and Solidworks.

Here’s why and I’ll try to keep it short: The Company I work with uses Solidworks, unfortunately the one of our vendors we do a lot of business with in Brazil use Pro/E. When they send me a model I’m able to open it and see the various components of the assembly, but not the attributes associated to it. When I send them a model, all they see is a solid block. Both companies have tried saving models under various extensions but we haven’t found the right combination yet, so here I am.

Does such software exist? Mine is an average skill-set at best with SolidWorks so perhaps I’m doing something wrong on my end?

Any help would be more then appreciated.

RE: SolidWorks & Pro/E Translating Software?

There are several companies that have software that can do native to native conversions. Translation Technology Inc. (www.translationtech.com) offers one such product.

SW07 can import and export Pro/E format files;

Versions 17 through 2001 of Pro/ENGINEER and Wildfire versions 1 and 2 are supported

I don't believe the properties (attributes) are carried through the conversion process. A quick test (exporting & importing from & to SW) did NOT bring in the properties.

cheers

RE: SolidWorks & Pro/E Translating Software?

Also, their are definite feature differences that will hinder conversion.  I've tried importing Pro/E 2001 files into SWx but remember SWx doesn't have a variable section sweep.  So it depends on the complexity of the geometry.
