outlet composition from HCL tank

outlet composition from HCL tank

(OP)
Hi all,
I need to calculate the outlet composition of gas coming out of a sealed HCL tank having an air inlet and an outlet. The temperature inside the tank is 20oC and pressure is at 1 atm. The tank is half filled with liquid HCL. I know the flowrate of incoming air. Any hints regarding this will be appreciated.

RE: outlet composition from HCL tank

Hi,

You need to tell if the HCL is gas or an auqeous solution.
If its just HCl gas, let us know the air flowrate. Can then help you know the composition ofHcl in the air outelt stream.

RE: outlet composition from HCL tank

As pressure necessary to liquify pure HCl(g) at 20 oC is about 40 atms, the liquid is perhaps an aqueous solution.  And, with a total pressure of 1 atm [absolute or gauge pressure???], the hydrochloric acid-water phase diagram shows that the HCl concentration is < 33 mole% (~49.6 wt%).
