Barrel Cam Relationship

Barrel Cam Relationship

Barrel Cam Relationship

(OP)
Has anyone found a way to mate a barrel cam to a cam follower mounted on a linear slide in an assembly so as you rotate the cam, the follower moves linearly?

RE: Barrel Cam Relationship

Hi,

yes, it works. The cam itself must, however, have closed set of tangent faces to define the cam. When the follower's mating
face is a flat one the rotation of the cam may stop at arbitrary
positions. What SE version are you running?

I can get it to work fine with plate cams, it's barrel cams that I'm at a loss with.

RE: Barrel Cam Relationship

Hi,

hmm, 'barrel cams' -- tells me nothing at the mo. Shape like
those on a car's camshaft?

/Edit

got it! I think it can't be done with that relationship.
Might be something for either Motion or the new Motor function
in V19. But I've not done that so I cn't help any further.
