Night setback calculation

Night setback calculation

Night setback calculation

(OP)
Hi there, I'm asked to work on a spreadsheet to calculate the savings on AC night setback during summer. What would be the best method I should use instead of "1% savings per 1F setback".

Thanks in advance.

RE: Night setback calculation

The website makes many, many assumptions about building construction, orientation, climate and etc.

Wrong assumptions make wrong conclusions......

RE: Night setback calculation

The energy saved in any period of time is:

BTU = UA[(Tout-Tin)-setback]*time

If time is an hour, and you have hourly temperature bin data, you're done.
