ProMax should be coming out with version 2 soon; they've included reactors such that you can simulate your gas processing units from end to end.  I've used BRE extensively and I love the software.  Anyone have any opinions on it?  I've not used Hysis in a long long time...

Matt

RE: Interesting Development

To each his own.  Wait till you have to pay for software out of your own pocket sometime, then decide.

The software is on;ly as good as the user. Don't ask others to validate your opinions.  Its kinda like Apple users or Betamax users trying to generate more users to validate their (good or bad) decisions.

From where I am right now, BRE is cheaper and based on direct comparisons calculates just as well (i.e. results very very similar to Hysys).

The point of the thread was to generate discussion where there was none.  I'm not sure why you decided to post in such a negative fashion but, so be it.

Based on my experience with Hysys so far, if I had to pay for it out of my own pocket it'd be BRE for sure (if I needed a full blown simulator.)

Any Betamax users out there care to comment?  blllttt

Matt

RE: Interesting Development

Try WinSim for two weeks free.  It is 1/6 the price of promax. I've got a gas plant from amine to spec iso butane, to LNG, refrigeration and Helium recovery.... Yesterday I picked up a Promax output and converted it to WinSim in 4 hours (25 units, distillation, 60 streams.)

My comments were not negative, just shedding light on whats available...

RE: Interesting Development

The price of BRE software is based on the number of licenses you buy where it will be installed. Sulphur Experts has similar products, fully integrated to Hysys.
