ASME B16.9 and ASME B36.10M

(OP)
Hi frndz,
For a Nozzle neck having pipe as per ANSI B36.10 (od and thickness), i am taking the fittings(if thr r any) as per B16.9 and am specifying the thickness of the fitting same as that of pipe.
Is it correct to take thickness the same as pipe.

B16.9 doesn't talk about the thickness.
so can i take any thickeness as per my convenience? ( as the scope in the std mentions, "any producible thickenss")

Thank you,
Hiren.

RE: ASME B16.9 and ASME B36.10M

hiren3010,

Please refer to ASME B16.9, Fig.1, Note 2 for the fitting "thickness" at the welding end.

Cheers,

Also, I recommend that you read Section 2 of ASME B16.9 and especially para. 2.1

This should answer your questions.

Good luck,

hiren3010,

I may have answered without thinking.

If your nozzle neck is on a vessel, the vessel will most likely be designed to a different code and have a different corrosion allowance as your attached pipe and fittings. The wall thickness for your pipe and fittings that are not part of the vessel should be calculated per the applicable piping code.
