Drawing of spur gears

Drawing of spur gears

Drawing of spur gears

(OP)
I'm interested in drawing a pair of spur gears, one of which
is small, and contained within the other, while engaging it.

For my purposes (concept), the sizes are not critical.  I have been unable to locate an AutoCAD (.dwg) or .dxf drawing
of any spur gears.  Can anyone e-mail to me an AutoCAD or .dxf drawing of a spur gear, showing the teeth?  Thank
you very much.

I don't think so.  I'll try to be more specific in my
description.  I want to draw a "generic" spur gear with
perhaps 8 teeth on its outer circumference.  I also want
to draw a second gear (ring gear?  I'm not sure about the
terminology) that surrounds the first gear.  The second
gear will have an inner circumference that has teeth
compatible with the teeth of the first gear.  The second
gear has approximately 4 times the number of teeth as
the first gear.  Hope this helps.  I just want to draw
these things accurately, by utilizing already-drawn
hardware.  Thanks for any help you can provide.  Any
drawing in .dxf format would be useable.  It doesn't
have to be AutoCAD specifically.  Most CAD programs have
a feature that allows a drawing to be converted to .dxf
format.     Inventorandrew

RE: Drawing of spur gears

I can draw what you've described and send it to you as an AutoCAD file.  Do you have any preference as to the pitch of the gears or other parameters?  Or do you just want a totally generic gear tooth as you said?  Let me know and I'll get right on it.  I have extensive autoCAD experience.

Thanks, Mazda_Jim.  I've done lots of AutoCAD myself, but
lack experience with involute gears.  Any size would be
okay--I can modify it later.  It's for an invention of a
tool for mechanics.   Andy Lampenfeld

RE: Drawing of spur gears

Cad sites such as Cadalyst.com have lisp routines that will draw these gears for you.  Most are free.  If you can find the Autocad Mechanical there is modules already built in that will draw your gears along with the shafting.
