Parts List - Cut Length

Parts List - Cut Length

Parts List - Cut Length

(OP)
I have a question in regards to the Parts List Cut Length column. I have it on the Parts List, but it is currently measuring to 4 decimal places and I would like it to be fractions to the nearest 1/16 or at least 2 decimal places. I also have some of them with parenthesis around them and some without. What does the parenthesis mean or without mean.

Thanks

RE: Parts List - Cut Length

Hello jlbmech,

In the part file go to File...File Properties...Units.  There you can alter the units and precision. How do you enter the cutting length?

What I normally do is to "expose" the specific variable that drives the cutting length of my part and give it the exposed name of "Cutting Length". That way I don't have to worry about updating the cutting length when the part changes.  Go to Tools..Variables and then expose the specific variable.

You will also notice that "Cutting Length" is automatically added to the custom properties of the part file.

So I need to go to the folder under the Solid Edge Standard Parts and open that part file and change the properties?

Currently Cut Length already shows up in my Parts List options and gives me a Cut Length, so I don't understand the second part of your post.

What about the Parenthesis around some of the cut lengths, but not others?

Thanks

RE: Parts List - Cut Length

Try changing 'Length Readout' in Units tab under File Properties. Then update the Part List.

Please ignore my post as toffeet has already gave the solution.

RE: Parts List - Cut Length

Hello jlbmech,

My apologies please ignore the second part of my first post. That is a method I use to define cutting lengths for machined parts.

Parenthesis?  Sorry, English is my second language. What does that look like?
