Cotter pin hole location on AN bolts

Cotter pin hole location on AN bolts

Cotter pin hole location on AN bolts

(OP)
Where can I find the dimension from the end of a cross-drilled AN bolt to the center of the cotter pin hole?

I have been unofficially told that this dimension is not controlled, but I find this hard to believe.  Internet searches have turned up nothing.

At the moment I'm interested in AN5 bolts (5/16-24).

RE: Cotter pin hole location on AN bolts

Are you refering to AN3 through AN20 bolts?  If so, the location of the hole as well as tolerances is on the spec.  If you need a copy of the spec, I could send it to you, though my copy is pretty old and may not be current.  (although I doubt it makes any difference)

iainuts,

Yes, these are the bolts I'm referring to.  I'd like to get a copy of your spec, even though it's old - these things tend not to change much over time.

They don't like us to post email addresses here, so please get my contact info at my web site: http://www.baymachinedesign.com

Thanks!

iainuts,

I received your email - thanks very much!  Apparently the latest version of the document is NASM6812, rev 1, which can be bought from Global Engineering Documents for $34.

arto,

Reid did not have the info posted on their web site, but they do look like an excellent resource.  Steve Reid was helpful in tracking down the name/number of the latest document.
