Why are "low hydrogen" diffusion weld consumables hard to find?

Why are "low hydrogen" diffusion weld consumables hard to find?

Why are "low hydrogen" diffusion weld consumables hard to find?

(OP)
Hi Guys,

Our design group has recently provided a criteria regarding the use of SMAW electrodes and MIG wire consumables with the restriction of less than 16ml/100g of diffusable hydrogen and we are trying to conclude if the consumables we have in stock meet these specs.
BLUE MAX 309LSI SS MIG wire
BLUE MAX 309L-17 SS Electrode

We can't find any information on this material regarding diffusable hydrogen levels.  No local weld material suppliers knew what we were talking about.  We suspect that the reason is the hydrogen diffusion is not an issue with these consumables?  Are we correct?

Thanks for your comments.

Did the "design group" impose the hydrogen restriction for stainless steels as well?  If so, you may wish to discuss a possible change to their imposition.
