Pulling data from PDMWorks

Pulling data from PDMWorks

Pulling data from PDMWorks

(OP)
Ok, I'm sure that this question has been asked in one form or another, but I couldn't find anything when I did a search so please try not to beat me up too much.
My IT guy wants to link up our ERP system (MAS90) with PDMWorks so that, at the very least, the Rev is always up to date. Seems like a lot of work for little gain, but I told him I'd ask. Does anyone know if/how this can be done? He's talking about hacking in without being destructive...shocked

I've heard about Agile, but the powers that be won't switch systems even though ours is pathetic...

RE: Pulling data from PDMWorks

I remember reading some threads relating to an API for PDMWorks.  I found thread559-119744 while searching the forum for PDMWorks API.  Some of the others talked about using check in events to trigger code execution.

Thanks, Eric. Something like that may work, but I'll have to check with my IT guy. I have no idea as to what sort of interface MAS90 is capable of.

RE: Pulling data from PDMWorks

There's no easy way to accomplish what you are trying to do.  We tried it with Agile, but didn't ultimately succeed.  You'll most likely need to use the API and write a custom app to allow the two systems to communicate, as EEnd suggested.

RE: Pulling data from PDMWorks

We have done this using the PDMWorks API. It is not live though. The routine pulls info out of PDM overnight and into a table. The table consists only of documents that have revision changes during the day. This list is then parsed by another routine and compared to our ERP system. Any changes are then made to ERP. We were planning to make this a live system using triggers but our management are now considering PDM Enterprise so we are awaiting the outcome.
