(OP)
Our Allen-Bradley 550 operator interface panels are programmed to store historical text alarm messages. I'm looking for an easy way to download this data to a PC from the panel view.  Data is not required in real time, but would be gathered intermittently (monthly, yearly, ...)and then displayed using an appropriate PC program.  Any advice or experience is welcome.

RE: Allen-Bradley Panel View downloading / communication

setup dde/opc topics in rslinx and send to spreadsheet (excel)

RE: Allen-Bradley Panel View downloading / communication

jde777 - Can you go into a little more detail?  We have tried to pull the alarm history out of a Panelview before and have always been unsuccessful.  The only we have been able to do is use the print feature to send the string somewhere for parsing.

TWControls

Are you specifically speaking about pulling the alarm history out of a pv and when you state "unsuccessful" what exactly do you mean?

To create a dde/opc topic in  linx.
1. right click on the processor in linx and create dde/opc topic.
2.Under the edit tab select copy dde/opc link and select the tag.
3.paste into excel cell and value will appear in excel or send to some other database access...ect.

RE: Allen-Bradley Panel View downloading / communication

Oh wait, are you speaking of the Panelview Plus?  I was thinking of the Standard Panelview.  I have never tried it with the Panelview Plus.  Didn't know there was a Panelview Plus 550.

Sorry for the confusion
