Does anyone have any ball-park figures for the cost savings for changing wood studs from Southern Yellow Pine Grade #1 to Spruce Pine Fir #2 ?  cost per unit?  for a small one story job abt. 50'x100' with L.B. stud walls and press plated trusses.  thanks in advance.

RE: Wood stud SYP1 to SPF2 = $$ savings

I am not sure that it is all about the $.  I think some of it is availability plus SPF is softer and easier to work with.  This is a florida opinion FWIW.

Call a local lumber yard for pricing and availability.  If you are using 2x4 or 2x6 specifying stud grade SPF is probably the most economical choice, unless you need a higher grade for strength.
