What about Virtual Component?

What about Virtual Component?

What about Virtual Component?

(OP)
Hi Edgers

I was looking at some feature and command that I don't use very much in SE and I saw some Virtual Component buttons. I remember seeing this as a new feature in V15 or V16 and at that time I didn't thought it was a good use for me since I wasn't used to work that way. I'm used to think about what I need and I don't have a problem to keep my assembly tree clean. I find it a lot easier to just model everything and then make some adjustment to a couple of dimension and your done.

So my question is this: Is there some people who use the virtual component feature and have found it useful to them.

Cheers

Patrick

RE: What about Virtual Component?

Hello Patrick,

I design rather large assemblies, up to 2000 parts and I still find the use of assembly sketches very efficient. It drives the parts and it represents a simple 2D concept of my design. Another useful feature is "Copy Sketch". This way I can link sketches to lower level assemblies and parts and delegate work to other designers.

I don't really see the need of Virtual Components.
