AutoCAD in Internet Explorer

AutoCAD in Internet Explorer

AutoCAD in Internet Explorer

(OP)
I'm managing an intranet solution were we are accessing files via a web-page. When clicking a link to a dwg-file the Internet Explorer opens it in the explorer window. I have tried to stop this from happening as it would be better to have the file opened in AutoCAD. I haven't found any way to make this happen.
Anybody has a solution to this?

Regards Bengt Olzon

Have you looked into DWF?

No I haven't. There are quite a lot of dwg-files established and it would be absolutely most convenient to keep the file-format as it is.

RE: AutoCAD in Internet Explorer

Sounds like you have an Add-On working in IE. Look under options >> programs and the Manage Add-Ons and see if you can turn off the AutoCAD add-on.

That is correct, but when I deactivate the addon it stops viewing the file completely. I get a message in the browser window that the web page is trying to use an addon and I get a link to were I can activate it again.

RE: AutoCAD in Internet Explorer

You may want to include an instruction on the intranet pages to right-click and select "Save Target As".  I know it's not an elegant solution, but this is what I have learned to do to get around an identical problem.  I have had this problem only since the release of IE7.
