API-541 Motor vs. Commercial Grade.
Is there a frame size increase (foot print) in selecting an API-541 since it has several upgrades that make it more robust?

Thanks

RE: API-541 Motor

API 541 applies to Motors larger than 500 HP which are not manufactured under standarized frames, that means every manufacturer has their own dimensional standards, then the foot print could change for different manufacturer.

For motors smaller than 500 HP, IEEE Std 841 applies. These motors have the very same frame size as for NEMA MG1 part 13 design B motors.

RE: API-541 Motor

You might also check into API-547 type design. 547 is not as severe specification as 541.
