Thread callout

Thread callout

(OP)
What is the correct way to call out a thread for the inside of a bored hole and it's threaded mate. I need to join two components with a fully threaded stud. The hole in the mating parts is 2 inches inside dia. Or is there a std straight thread that I can use?

Do I use the pitch diameter as the reference for both?
Exp: Pitch dia of 2.03 with a 10 threads per inch with a Acme thread.
The threaded stud would then be 2.06 major dia threaded to 10 threads per inch.

Also, not sure which type of thread to use, Acme or straight pipe.
Any suggestions?

RE: Thread callout

Would a 2-1/4 inch UNC tap/thread give you what you need?

RE: Thread callout

Refer to ASME B1.7, Nomenclature, Definitions, and Letter Symbols for Screw Threads to see if it provides the needed information.  B1.7 references B18.12, ISO 5408 and FED-STD-H28/1.
