CHILLED WATER COPPER PIPE FITTINGS

(OP)
Dear sirs,

I am specifiacting M Hard Copper Tubing for chilled water system. My question deals with choicing of fittings. What do you think is the most advaisable:

Cast brass?
wrought copper?
wrought brass?

Soldered, threaded?

Working pressure will be 90#.

Thanks in advance.

RE: CHILLED WATER COPPER PIPE FITTINGS

There is no practical way to thread Type M copper. It's too thin. Soft solder wrought copper fittings.

RE: CHILLED WATER COPPER PIPE FITTINGS

Wrot copper fittings, pressure pattern, type M pipe, either 95/5 solder or silver solder if it is installed in inaccessible finished locations.

If you want threaded fittings, valves and etc so piping may be disassembled for maintenance, use swet to thread couplings.

RE: CHILLED WATER COPPER PIPE FITTINGS

Have you given some thought to plastic such as CPVC
CPVC piping  is suitable for hot and cold water distribution has a 400 psi pressure rating at room temperature, and a 100 psi pressure rating at 180 F. Schedule 80 can be welded or threaded.

RE: CHILLED WATER COPPER PIPE FITTINGS

We use PVC down here, its year round cooling. Does black iron cost more than copper these days?

Must be small mains to be running type M copper

Take the "V" out of HVAC and you are left with a HAC(k) job.
