Measure Center to Center

Measure Center to Center

(OP)
Dear Folks;

Just a simple one this time.

How do you measure center to center distance between two tubes using the measure tool ?

Thanks for your consideration

RE: Measure Center to Center

Select Measure distance from the tools menu.

Hold your cursor over the feature until either the centerline is highlighted or you get the select other tool to pop up. If the centerline did not become highlighted right away, use the select other tool until it becomes highlighted and LMB the box in the center of the select other tool to select the centerline. Repeat for the other feature.

Or my prefered method, RMB on the feature you want pick select other from the flyout menu. Choose the centerline of the feature and repeat for the second feature.

Real easy.

Dear Dave;

Sounds like you gave me the answer for Solidworks. I already know how to measure c/c with that.

I should have qualified that I am using Inventor 7 in this case.

Sorry to be unclear

RE: Measure Center to Center

I have Inventor 8, I assure you that is how you do it. Unfortunatly I can't say for certain that it is the same in Inventor 7. I had just "assumed" that such a basic functionality would be the same.

Dear Dave;

It turns out I need to "Select Sketch Elements" before I can get your suggestion to work. Then the "Select Other" right mouse click appears and I can select centerlines.

Many Thanks

I'm glad you got something to work. They must have corrected that in the later versions.
