Elastomer vs. Foam

Elastomer vs. Foam

Elastomer vs. Foam

(OP)
Does anyone have information on why one would choose an elastomer over foam for an application, other than price?  I have an application that I have been looking to use either a silicone or urethane foam-in-place gasket, but the thought of an elastomer hadn't really crossed my mind until recently.  If I could find a cost effective elastomer that had the same hardness characteristics of a foam, would it be a feasible alternative?

RE: Elastomer vs. Foam

One very important consideration:

Is the final "material"  created in a factory or by a person on the "construction" site.

"Made in factory" usually implies a lot more quality control than "on site" "mixing/spraying".

The material would be applied in the factory.

RE: Elastomer vs. Foam

We would like to know if somebody use already pressure sensitive adhesive an Acrylic Co Polymer
PANATEX A 5012  low viscosity
PANATEX A 501 D Medium viscosity

Used with a film one side sticked on foam other side to precoated steel sheet.

Any recommendations or experience ?
