Partial Threading of round bar

Partial Threading of round bar

Partial Threading of round bar

(OP)
How do you partially thread a bar in solid edge?  I need to thread about 50mm of a 150mm bar but it won't allow me to do this as it simply threads the whole bar even when I use a finite value for it.

Anyone able to help?

Thanks.

RE: Partial Threading of round bar

Hi,

the thread is OK! It's only that the whole face is coloured
green just to viaualize that this part is threaded.

See topic:

im trying to make a finite value for the thread depth

(the link, however, is no longer valid)

RE: Partial Threading of round bar

donsrno1,

All you need to stop the thread is a minute change in diameter of the bar.  You can trick SE by including a tiny groove in the shaft at the termination of the thread.
