how to change parameters of an "UNPARAMETERIZED FEATURE"

(OP)
Hi all,

Please give me a tip how can I modify parameters(lets say, diameter)in an "UNPARAMETERIZED FEATURE" part. One of my colleague has designed a part and in that he used an existing part which is showing under the name "UNPARAMETERIZED FEATURE". So please give me any tips...

thanks in advance..

RE: how to change parameters of an "UNPARAMETERIZED FEATURE"

Hi.

Offset face or on of direct modeling function

RE: how to change parameters of an "UNPARAMETERIZED FEATURE"

By definition, an unparameterized feature has no internal parameters to modify. However, as Pawel points out there are a number of features that can be added to the part in order to change the underlying geometry. Offset face would be useful for changing a diameter and the direct modeling features are also extremely powerful for modifying unparameterized geometry. It can take a bit of practice to understand exactly how they all work and which type of feature to use for what purpose but it is probably your best bet for modifying your part.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your replies and they helped me in modyfing the part. I also needed to change some angle but however I did it by using "Detail Feature" option..Once again thanks a lot.

RE: how to change parameters of an "UNPARAMETERIZED FEATURE"

In NX2 and prior, Edit Face would accomplish this. There was a function to change the diameter or an unparameterized feature. Most of the time it would work ok. But I can't find the Edit Face menu in NX4. Maybe another user knows where it went to.

Good luck

RE: how to change parameters of an "UNPARAMETERIZED FEATURE"

Are you using advanced role with full menus?  It's there.

RE: how to change parameters of an "UNPARAMETERIZED FEATURE"

Edit Face is still there. Some folks still use dumb solids for their complete design process. Blowing away paramaters and moving on.
It still has move face, replace face, delete face and Resize face.

krishp, you always yave edit face; resize face. Offset face works fine too. Many ways to skin these cats.
