Surface to solid

I have been sent a file from a vendor and the format it's in is unusable basically it manifold but not a solid it's simply one surface, is there a tool to convert this to a solid?
Thanks

RE: Surface to solid

Is it “watertight”?

how do i go about check for that?

RE: Surface to solid

Click on Tools, Check.  This will tell you if there are any bad faces or gaps.  Is this a native solidworks file?  If not when you import the file you can run Import Diagnosis and that will tell you of any problems if there are any.

thanks this was the check result
3 general fault(s) found.
No invalid edges/faces found.
1 open surface(s) found.
I beieve it started life as an ProE part.

RE: Surface to solid

The 3 general faults found mean there is a problem with 3 surfaces.  You will need to fix them.  The quickest way might be to delete those faces and re-create them.

1 open surface means there is a hole some where.  If you click on "Open Surface" in the Results list it will higlight to show you were the hole is.  You can also click on the General faults to see where they are also.

Hope this helps.

Murph.
