Make route lines visible in HLR exploded drawing view

Make route lines visible in HLR exploded drawing view

Make route lines visible in HLR exploded drawing view

(OP)
Does anyone know how to make the route lines visible that pass behind an object in an exploded drawing view that is in HLR (Hidden Lines Removed)? It kind of defeats the purpose of the routing lines if they disappear when they go into a box if you are trying to show which screws go in which holes. HLV mode is too busy for the eyes to follow the routing lines. When you are creating the routing lines, they are visible through objects. Route lines are supposedly a 3D Sketch, but I can't find a way to access it to make it visible.

Thanks,

Can you make the box semi-transparent and show in shaded mode?

cheers

I believe you can do it by clicking on the sketch in the FM and choosing show/hide, show hidden entities. I can't check that right now, but I'm pretty sure it will work.

Ok, I was mistaken. The sketch doesn't show up in the FM.
However, and this is probably a huge PITA, you can turn on HLV and then select/hide the edges you don't want to see. Obviously a lousy choice if you're dealing with a huge assembly...sorry for my earlier mis-direction.

Cor-

I tried your solution and it seemed to work. It looked great in the assembly anyway with the route lines visible through the walls of the box. Once I moved over to the drawing, the box is trasparent, but the route lines are still hidden. It is even more confusing now.

Jeff-

That was my first thought since the route line sketch is supposed to be a 3DSketch, but as you said, it does not show up on the FM.

My VAR suggested just creating the route lines manualy in a 3DSketch, and then making it visible in the drawing. Nice idea, except for the fact that when in the assembly, the instant you open a 3Dsketch, the exploded view collapses. Makes it difficult to draw the route lines.

So if you can't make your route lines visible behind parts in a drawing, it certainly takes away many of the reasons to have route lines. I seem to be pretty good at finding SW problems with no workaround. It is my impression that nobody at SW actually creates real parts, assemblies and drawings.

Thanks for the suggestions and have a great Thanksgiving
