What is the advantage of not carrrying a ground on a 3 phase delta system. Aren't you setting your self up for Ground loops. Thanks.

RE: 3 phase Delta

Are you asking what is the advantage of a 3-phase delta ungrounded system over a grounded wye system? Or are you asking if you can wire a 3-phase delta system without an equipment ground wire?

My Question is why you see many 3 phase deltal systems feeding panels without carrying a ground and what is the advantage of that. Thank you

RE: 3 phase Delta

Every installation should have an equipment ground. In some older installations, the conduit run serves as the ground. Most electricians will run a ground wire even when the code permits the conduit to serve as the ground return. Obviously, the only advantage would be the savings in wire.
