Design life of Road in a Refinery / Chemical Plant

Design life of Road in a Refinery / Chemical Plant

(OP)
Hi All,

What is the design life of flexible asphalt paving in a refinery or chemical plant? Will ten years be sufficient? Thank you in advance.

RE: Design life of Road in a Refinery / Chemical Plant

I work at a power plant and the original asphalt roads used during construction and operation lasted about 15 years before major repairs were needed.  And those repairs were really only in the high traffic areas for loaded semis etc.

RE: Design life of Road in a Refinery / Chemical Plant

For an industrial plant, 10 years sounds like reasonable projected lifetime for a road. A typical industrial plant may be deigned for 30 to 50 years (or more) of use, but changes and modifications are frequent. IMHO, there is no need to expect the road to last as long as the plant - you may have to relocate, widen, or strengthen the road long before then.
