I am looking for  criteria for pile hammer selection such as the weight of striking parts with respect to the wieght of the pile, etc.

RE: pile driving hammer selection

Look at

Standard Handbook of Heavy Construction 3d edition
O'Brien, Havers, Stubbs Jr.
Mc Graw Hill

p. D3-22 Driving equipment

includes definitions, criteria and tables.

RE: pile driving hammer selection

Selection of the appropriate hammer is usually based on the required energy necessary to drive the piles shown on the plans.

Minimum hammer energy required is usually noted about 7000 ft-lbs. and the energy for H-pile may be estimate per length as 3*w*L where w is the weight of the pile (lb/ft) and L is the length of pile.  Alternately, the energy for H pile may be calculated as a function of bearing value which is 225*bearing value where the bearing value is in tons and hammer energy results in ft-lbs.

Hammer energy is usually listed in the driving equipment charts as standard information.  These charts may be obtained from several texts on foundations, including Das, Peck, Hansen & Thornburn, and Bowles.
