Catia unattended install

Catia unattended install

Catia unattended install

(OP)

Is it possible to install catia unattended by modifying some file on windows by copying the contents of the the
cd onto the hard disk. if so how?

RE: Catia unattended install

I tried this with V5R16, but it didn't work. The install ptogram looks at the physical device for the next CD, not the folder on the CD. Also, some of the files have the smae name on the CD's, so you cannot just dump them all in a single folder.

RE: Catia unattended install

I have seen it done, but there are other methods that must also be implemented.

One company that I worked for was doing Ghost images of the whole operating system, with Catia already installed.  This, of course, required a separate hard disk for data only.

RE: Catia unattended install

I'm assuming you are all familiar with the "startb" routine to install the software.  This will allow for unattended installation.  I've cut and pasted some information from the online documentation under Catia Installation & Administration.

There is a lot of information in that online document so I would look there on all the specifics on how to install unattended. I've done it in the past and it is quite slick.

There are several ways in which you can provide multiple end users with access to Version 5. You can:

install the software on each computer directly from the CD-ROM
install the software on each computer by mapping to another computer on which the software has been copied and is accessible.

When setting up the server you can:

copy all the software into the same folder (as illustrated above)
or, given that the software is distributed on several CDs ( 1, 2 ...), copy the contents of each CD into a separate folder for each CD, making sure that the name of each folder corresponds to the CD number ( 1, 2 ...) etc.

The StartB batch command lets you install Version 5 without the graphical user interface.
You can install all Version 5 software except online documentation in batch mode.
