rotary motion to linear moving system

rotary motion to linear moving system

hello

I am new to this  group . I have one doubt .

I want to transfer rotary motion to a shaft which having linear motion of about 120 mm  perpendicular to the axis of the shaft.

i know one option , use timer pulley to transfer rotary motion  with spring loaded idler to account for that 120 mm linear .

is this method is correct ?, and any other method exsists?

RE: rotary motion to linear moving system

Method submitted is very good simple solution for low linear speeds, but high speeds may cause problems. Can also use  programmed linear rack to drive pinion gear on shaft if linear motion is known.

RE: rotary motion to linear moving system

Or where the  motor is mounted on a slide that moves with the shaft, also fairly simple.

Hello zekeman

In my case the linear speed is ur slow . Linear motion manualy is actuated by worm-worm wheel through a hand wheel for initial set up of the machine .

I cant use motor in guideways  because i have to use same motor power for  stationary shaft and a shaft in linear motion .

thank u for ur reply
