HoleWizard Tap Drill Depth

HoleWizard Tap Drill Depth

HoleWizard Tap Drill Depth

(OP)
All,
We have had some complaints from our vendors, that the tap drill depths in SW are not deep enough on blind holes. Would anyone know what file controls this action? I know in the HW window, I can manually change it, but we have been asked if as a whole we can make these depths 2X the thread dia past the tap depth.

Thank You
Brad

RE: HoleWizard Tap Drill Depth

Do a search for Holewzd.idx under Programs/SolidWorks. I believe this is the file you need, but good luck editing it.

I am well versed in the creation of "Custom Holewizard" profiles, but no where have I seen in there the information for tap drill depths. Thats what I am really after. How SW calculates them and if there is a way we change change that.

RE: HoleWizard Tap Drill Depth

Tap drill depths are controlled by a hard coded into SW using the data of "Blind (2*Dia)". That cannot be changed since its hard coded into SW. You will have to adjust it manually each time... As far as I can tell.

I have had people ask this before and I have never found away of controlling this yet, but that's because its hard coded into the software I believe.

RE: HoleWizard Tap Drill Depth

I've had the same issues. What I did was create a set of "favorites" to use in the hole wizard a needed. You only have to create them once.
