I realize this isn't for troubleshooting, but thought you might have some engineering input.

My front windshield wipers only run in med or hi speed. In low or intermittent speed, they move about 12" and just sit there. Even in hi or med, I have to turn them off right when they get into the stowed position or they stop in place.

The rear wiper only works on rare occasion. It nevr stops in the stowed position, but usually an inch or two off.

Its a 2001 Rodeo. I read online that those in the early to mid 90's, I believe, had a circuit board that had a cracked solder joint that caused wiper issues. Could that be the same thing here? Any thoughts, electronic or otherwise as to why this is happening?

I thought the motor might be going out on the front ones, but find it perplexing that the rear one is having issues too. Too much of a coincidence for both motors to go out at the same time I think.

Thanks for your help.

RE: Isuzu Rodeo

I had similar issues with a Cadillac Cimmaron.  Took the whole shebang apart during Christmas time (in Indiana!) out in the driveway.  Once I had the control module in my hands and was warming up inside with some coffee, I took the bad boy apart.  A PCB trace had completely melted.  I never bothered to find out what caused the meltdown, nor what the trace was for, but simply tacking a new wire in its place and reassembling did the trick for the next several years until I got rid of the car.

macgyver,
Thank you for the reply. Any idea where I might find the PCB in my Rodeo? Near the fuse panel under the hood? Near the fuse panel near the driver's floorboard? Elsewhere?

I'll try an internet search as well.

Thanks again.

RE: Isuzu Rodeo

For the Caddy, it was in a box attached to the firewall (near the wiper motor) under the hood.  Your location will most certainly vary.
