Now that I know that I have a Star Delta Motor, can this motor be connected on the Line Run wiring using a standard motor starter or do I still need the Star Delta Starter?

RE: Star Delta Motor - AC Induction 3ph

What's the motor Horsepower?

RE: Star Delta Motor - AC Induction 3ph

The answer depends on the motor HP or kW and the available short circuit at the starter (what kind of voltage drop will you get).

This is a 10hp motor

RE: Star Delta Motor - AC Induction 3ph

Yes, you can always choose to connect a Y-Delta motor in Delta only. All the other issues are related to consequences, and with a 10HP motor there are not likely to be any.

RE: Star Delta Motor - AC Induction 3ph

The choice to use a star delta starter is often load related. If the motor is still driving the original load it may have some problems starting in delta. If you have only the motor and are driving an easy starting load you are probably OK.
