Tube bundle (Pressure drop and heat transfer)

Tube bundle (Pressure drop and heat transfer)

(OP)
Hi,

I've been trying to find theory to calculate the pressure drop and heat transfer over a bank of tubes. I want to generate geometry specific friction and Colburn j factor charts (as in Kays & London).

The best source I have is the VDI Wärmeatlas but I don't understand German. Is there someone that knows of a good source?

Regards
Philip

RE: Tube bundle (Pressure drop and heat transfer)

Heat Transfer - J.P. Holman
Principles of Heat Transfer - F. Kreith & M.S. Bohn

Both discuss exchanger tube x-flows... & both are in English.

RE: Tube bundle (Pressure drop and heat transfer)

TEMA has a chapter about heat transfer and pressure drop

There you will find the chart to calculate the Mean Temperature Difference MTD.

MTD=GTTD-LTTD/Log e GTTD/LTTD

GTTD=Greater Terminal Temperature Difference
LTTD=Lesser Terminal Temperature Difference
